SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION IN FOOD AND AGRICULTURE
Harnessing Natural Compounds to Modulate Genes for Healthy Metabolism
The 4Sir2 project aims to create a functional beverage for obese children, using grape or apple juice enriched with resveratrol and polyphenols from red grape by-products. These compounds activate anti-obesity genes, specifically sirtuins, supporting healthy metabolism.
The project seeks to innovate grape cultivation and processing while producing health-oriented beverages. The 4Sir2 smoothie is designed to prevent childhood obesity, activate sirtuin expression, and provide essential nutritional support. By targeting children, it also encourages healthier eating habits within families.
4Sir2 offers a natural, minimally processed, affordable alternative to existing functional drinks. Its production processes focus on sustainability, using grape pomace as a source of sirtuin activators, minimizing environmental and climate impact, and extending societal benefits.
