Partners discussed scientific and technical progress within individual work packages, but also the dependencies, information needs and decisions that cut across them.   ## **4Sir2 General Assembly 2026: Reviewing Horizon Europe Project Progress and Next Steps**   The first day brought together progress stories from across the project, with partners sharing not only progress but also unexpected observations, challenges encountered and lessons emerging from the first year of implementation.   The programme then looked ahead to the launch of WP6 and included discussions on the regulatory baseline for the 4Sir2 smoothie, industrial and market requirements, partner capabilities and cross-work-package dependencies, as well as preparations for the 2027 grape sampling campaign. An Industrial Round Table explored what will need to happen over the coming year for the project’s prototypes and processes to respond to industrial and market requirements.   The consortium also received perspectives from its Advisory Board and Ethical Committee on the project’s strategic relevance, scientific direction, ethical considerations and potential future uptake.   The second day focused more strongly on implementation and coordination, including communication, dissemination and exploitation, stakeholder engagement and collaboration with sister projects, risk and intellectual property management, emerging Key Exploitable Results, preparation of the first periodic report, and the decisions and commitments required for the next project period.   ## Industry 5.0 Research in 4Sir2: From Principles to a Value-Chain Deployment Approach   ![TransdisciplinaryResearch4sir2-](https://betterorganisations.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/TransdisciplinaryResearch4sir2-.jpg?width=1884&height=1042&name=TransdisciplinaryResearch4sir2-.jpg) *Witold Wisniewski presenting Better Organisations’ research approach to implementing Industry 5.0 across the 4Sir2 value chain.*   During the General Assembly, **Better Organisations presented the research approach it will use in Task "Implementing the Industry 5.0 approach for efficient production and consumption of 4Sir2 smoothies"**. The purpose of the task is to understand how the principles of **Industry 5.0 – human-centricity, sustainability and resilience – can be translated into practice within the 4Sir2 value chain**.   Better Organisations approaches this as a **design challenge**. The research is intended not only to describe the current situation, but also to generate evidence and understanding that can inform the design of a practical, value-chain-specific **Industry 5.0 deployment approach**.   The research combines several complementary components: - an **empirical Industry 5.0 assessment**, combining quantitative and qualitative research; - **co-creation**, bringing empirical evidence together with stakeholder knowledge to jointly develop and refine elements of the deployment approach; - **metaphorical research**, helping to surface underlying assumptions and meanings that may not emerge through direct questioning; - **socio-technical analysis**, examining interactions between technologies, organisations, work arrangements, skills and human capital in the context of Industry 5.0. Together, these components have different roles but contribute to the same objective: developing an Industry 5.0 approach grounded in the **specific context of the 4Sir2 value chain**.   The work is **design-led, transdisciplinary and co-creative**. It also reflects the project’s **Multi-Actor Approach (MAA)**. Relevant actors are not treated simply as respondents who provide data. Their knowledge and experience can contribute to how challenges are understood and, over time, to the development and refinement of the Industry 5.0 deployment approach.   The next stage will therefore involve **engaging people and organisations** with relevant knowledge of the activities, processes, technologies, work arrangements and organisational relationships **that make up the 4Sir2 value chain**.   As **Witold Wisniewski, Founder of Better Organisations**, explained: *“The purpose of our research is to understand how Industry 5.0 principles can be translated into practice in this value chain. The session formed part of the project’s ongoing risk-management work and used a concrete scenario to examine how risks can develop through dependencies between different actors and activities.   Using a role-play format, participants explored the same situation from different perspectives and considered how different forms of knowledge, priorities and constraints can shape the way a problem is understood.   The key lesson was broader than formal risk management. In **innovation and other complex organisational problems**, relevant knowledge is often distributed across different people and parts of the system.
